"God sees everything."

Matthew 5:14–16 (KJV)

“Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”[1]

Imagine you have a bright flashlight or a lamp. Does it make sense to hide it under a blanket or in a closet? No! You'd put it somewhere where it can light up the room and help people see. This Bible verse is saying that people who follow God are like that light. They're meant to be seen and to show others good things, not to be hidden away.

Question: "How can I, like a bright light, show good things to the world around me and Cornerstone?"

Devotion (3–5 minutes): At Cornerstone Family Health, God has called each of you—students and staff—to serve in His name, bringing healing and hope through the provision of healthcare. As we welcome our summer students and undertake projects like the video, church materials, and the Thanksgiving event, we are reminded that our work is a testimony of our faith. The words of Matthew 5 call us to shine as lights, not hidden but boldly displayed, so that our good works glorify our Heavenly Father.

To our students, this means letting your faith guide every action, whether offering a prayer for a patient, crafting materials with truth, or serving with diligence. Your time here is an opportunity to grow in Christ and, for those still seeking Him, to find salvation. To our staff, it is a challenge to lead as disciples, showing how faith strengthens us in trials and unites us as a family. As we labor together, let us pray that God empowers us to shine brightly, drawing others to His love and building His kingdom through Cornerstone Family Health.

Practical Application:

Instead of keeping your kindness or good deeds to yourself, look for opportunities to let them shine. This could mean:

• Being honest and fair even when it's difficult.

• Helping someone in need, whether it's a friend, family member, or even a stranger.

• Speaking up for what's right when you see injustice.

• Being a positive influence in your school, workplace, or community.

• Sharing your talents or resources to benefit others.

• The idea is that your actions, your "good works," should be visible and demonstrate positive qualities, which in turn can inspire others and point back to God.

Closing Prayer: Almighty God, we praise Thee for calling us to serve at Cornerstone Family Health. Grant our students and staff grace to shine as lights, glorifying Thee in all we do. Lead those who know Thee not to salvation and strengthen Thy disciples in faith. Guide our projects and the Thanksgiving event to honor Thy name through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
